An Inspiring Weekend

I spent a truly inspiring day at the Medicine Garden in Surrey on Saturday, attending a fantastic photography workshop run by Vicki Knights in the MakeMe studio.  The workshop was actually focused on child and family photography but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to practice my new skills in such an inspiring setting whilst getting some garden inspiration at the same time.

The Medicine Garden is a amazing Victorian walled garden which has been (and is still in the process of being) beautifully restored.  The planting is absolutely beautiful and I am really looking forward to seeing how it develops and changes over the seasons.  Already the alliums are in seed (photographed above)  but blend in beautifully with the cornflowers, poppies and daisies currently in full bloom. (I am definitely going for cornflowers and poppies in my garden next year!).

The workshop was fantastic, I learnt SO much, and it was such a breath of fresh air to be in such a relaxed and inspiring environment.  I can't wait to go back.  I think it will be an amazing place to capture the seasons and put my new photography skills into practice.  A fabulous find.

  1. Oh Becs what a great collage of pictures! You are really talented! I just love poppies, giant allium and cornflowers! In The States cornflowers are also known as batchelor buttons and in Finland they are called ruiskukka (ruis= rye kukka= flower) that seems really crazy to me! I expected maissakukka (maissa=corn kukka)wouldn't have guessed that one! I do not recognize the other top flowers though.
Also thank you for such a very kind email. I know how hard it is to get a blog up and going!I just realized I am not on our Indie blog list as I am working my down to visit everyone. :(
Hope you have the BEST DAY!

  2. Hi Tracie, thanks so much for your lovely comments. I think the flower at top left is some sort of oriental ruffled poppy and the flower top right is verbena - I liked it so much I bought it! For the indie blog list, leave your details and they will get updated I'm sure. Louana is checking in from time to time - I only posted my updated details a few weeks ago.

    Have a great day! Becsx

  3. Thank you I will update that today! We walked some city gardens last night and spotted that orangy red flower. Not sure if it's a poppy or not, but very pretty just the same!
