Marshmallows

The Moo loves marshmallows so we decided to make our own, using the recipe from Hugh Fearnley- Wittingstall's The River Cottage Family Cookbook

I'm not a great fan of marshmallows but the Moo has declared them "yummy" so all in all a (sticky) success I think.  She is rather cross that we didn't put enough food colouring in as she wanted them properly pink, not the slightly off-white we ended up with.  I've put her in charge of food colouring from now on, so expect some lurid food photos from here on in!

  3. funny I came across this today: After decades of marriage, I found out yesterday that Himself loves those gooey marshmallow things covered in a thin and brittle layer of the most abysmal pretence for chocolate. I'm sure you know what I'm thinking of.
Have you tried covering any of this gloop? I shall have to have a go now.

  4. Hi August, that's so funny! I haven't tried covering it but I don't see why you couldn't - it is super-sticky though so be prepared to get messy! Becsx

  6. Hi Hanna, welcome to Catching Sundust and thank you for commenting. Not odd at all about Hugh, I think he's great and we have loads of his books too! The marshmallows aren't hard at all, the idea of boiling sugar was putting me off but actually it was fine. It was fun, give it a go!! Becsx
