I've started a 365 project!  Hardly a new idea, I know, but new for me and a bigger commitment than I'm generally comfortable with!

I'm reading Patti Digh's Creative is a Verb at the minute and a couple of lines really stood out for me:

'Every single moment of your life is an opportunity for creativity'.

So true and yet I still wait for the quiet moments and the space to be creative.   I hope 365 will encourage me to have my camera to hand all the time, capturing the ordinary which leads me to another quote of hers which really stood out:

'Because it's our ordinary, we believe it's everyone's ordinary'.

The details of my life are not the same as anyone else's.  There is uniqueness in everything we do.  I want my 365 project to celebrate my uniqueness through the details of my ordinary life.

I found this  via pinterest.  It's so true - I'll always remember the big stuff but it's the little things in my life, so easily forgotten, that make is so special.

My plan is to do a Friday round up of the weeks photos and then have a separate page for the project itself by month.

Has anyone else tried the 365 photo a day challenge?  Would love to see how you got on, so please leave your link in the comments.

  1. Becs,
Congrats on taking on the 365 challenge. I am heading into the final stretch of my second one. For me, it wasn't about having a shot for every single day - there were days when life intervened. Instead it was about the commitment to making photography a daily part of my life. And the experience has made a huge impact on my life and my art.

I look foward to following along on your journey and experiencing "your" ordinary.

  2. This is such an inspiring post and I can't wait to see some of the pictures that come out of it.

Its a big commitment but will be so much fun for you xx

  3. How great! Congratulations for doing the challenge! Looking forward following your journey and know a bit more about your life and your "ordinary"!
Thanks for sharing the quote - I truly believe that by stopping for a moment we realize and see with brand new eyes the little things and how much they are important in our lives.

  4. That is cool you are commiting to this! I'm excited to see what you see through your lens!

  5. Thank you all for your words of support and enthusiasm for my 365 project. I am a little daunted by it but looking forward to it too, and hoping my 'ordinary' isn't just 'dull'!! I guess we'll see.:)
@Brenda, thank you for sharing your experience, I'm very encouraged by your words about the impact it has had on your life and art. x
