Every year I wrestle with myself over whether or not I should send Christmas cards.  I know there is an environmental impact, there's the cost, not to mention the 'extra thing' to add to an already overwhelming list.  Yet I always, always come down in favour of sending them.

This year I did pretty well and got them out early (or early for me anyway!).  And I'm so glad I did.  From a quick greetings in an annual card I reconnected with an old friend who I'd almost lost contact with and learnt that she has just had a baby - we are getting together in the new year.  For family who live too far for us to visit often it is an opportunity to send our news and photographs of the Moo.  It is a chance to let those who have had a difficult year know that we are thinking of them, a chance to share our highlights and celebrations and to reconnect with friends.

And as much as I love sending them, I love receiving them too.   I think cards will always be a big part of our Christmas tradition.

What about you?  Do you send cards at this time of year?

  1. I wrestle with the same question every year too. But I always opt to do it. I just hate to lose the tradition of sending out cards...we get such few "snail mail" greetings these days as it is :) Happy holidays!

  2. Me too - although I send fewer than I used to, I know how much I love getting a handwritten note in the mail, so I enjoy making and sending cards. Happy Holidays.

  3. I just send a few- but I do love receiving them!

  4. Yes, I still send a few, to family and close friends. For the past 5 years or so, I've designed and made the cards that I send. This year, I created a digital design but had it professionally printed. It's one of the things that I look forward to each year, coming up with a new creation.

  5. Love both pics Becs! And yes, we still send and love to receive greetings. Although we switched to a postcard this year - I'm all about postcards! Thanks for joining in Many Muses Musing.
