Gratitude Week

Earlier in the year I got the audio version of Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach and one of the non-negotiables was to write down 5 things you were grateful for everyday.  Great idea I thought.  And for several months I did just that.  And then I stopped.

At the beginning of November, I signed up on instagram to a gratitude photo a day for a month.  Great idea I thought.  I think I posted 4.  And then I stopped.

I have come to realise that when all is bouncing along nicely as it should, I find it really easy to make time to count my blessings. But as soon as there is even the tiniest amount of uncertainty, if things feel even a little out of my control, my default setting seems to bypass the good and the many things I have to be grateful for and to focus on the negative.  And here I am.  Stuck in the negative.

This week, I am joining in with Michelle's gratitude party.  I've dusted off my gratitude journal and I'll be posting my weekly gratitude list here on Friday.  So, how about you?  Fancy joining the gratitude party?

  2. What a pretty capture! I started a gratitude journal once too! Now I just say the things I'm grateful for every night when I go to bed. It works too!

  3. I think I'm a bit like you Becs. Start things with lots of good intentions and then get side tracked by something else. I believe it's called grazing :-)

  5. This is such a beautiful photograph, Becs.
I love the idea of a gratitude journal, or just making sure to mentally note what we have to be grateful for from time to time.

  6. I like the idea of keeping a gratitude journal. :)
We should all remember to look at all the nice little things in our everyday life, such as feeling the warmth of the sun shining on your skin, seeing someone we love smile...

  7. Gratitude for the chance to try again (and again) - to remember on a daily basis those things that make our lives special.
