Currently....

I'm currently reading Grace (Eventually) by Anne Lamott.  I adore her writing and whenever I pick up something by her there is always something that speaks to me.  Today it is this:

But instead, I did an incredible thing, something I have not done nearly enough in my life:  I did nothing.  Or at any rate, I did not talk.......... I listened instead.

Listening can be so much harder than doing, don't you think?

The image above was created for Beyond Beyond using Kim Klassen texture July 2.

We are promised sun for next week but in the meantime this darker, slightly grungy image is more reflective of the weather (and my mood. Insomnia sucks).

Feeling the need to create.  I've pinned enough stuff, I think it's time to actually make something!  Maybe something easy today as I'm a little....below par.

What about you?  What are you up to?

  1. Love Anne Lamott as well. I recently read her Bird by Bird on writing, so good. I love your processing style, it is a look I greatly admire. Happy Creating!!

  2. I so agree with the author in her quote, there is always too much chatter imo. Hope the insomnia soon goes away for sure and that the rain also lets up soon.

I enjoyed doing that BB's this week very much and your image is really lovely Becs with the texture.

  3. Oh, and I know about pinning, on and on. It's such a fun past time and easy to do. Wishing you a sunshiny day(s). Your zinnias are just lovely in these soft tones. I haven't even started this one yet but will right away.

  6. Yes, listening is always harder - both to others as well as our internal voice. Beautiful flowers shining forth from their textured background. My son and fiancée are in London until Sunday - am keeping my fingers crossed for a nice weekend for their sightseeing.

    1. We are promised a gorgeous weekend and next week is meant to be lovely too, I think your son will be lucky! And to be honest, it's been grey but not too wet so that's pretty good for sightseeing anyway. If you haven't seen London in the grey, you really haven't seen London!...

  8. It's a beautiful image you created. I hope that your insomnia does not last long. I can't stand it when that happens. Anne Lamott has gotten me through a few bouts in the last couple years. Hoping your weekend is full of rest, sun and creativity. xo

  9. Oh I love this words!
I'm a good listener, but know that I want to be heard too and oftentimes I look for attention.
Better to stop and care about whats around you from time to time.

    Love your pinterest pins.
I beat myself to create daily this days, and it really helps to find a starting point, as soon as I have started it is so energizing and I never ever reget that I made something, if it isn't the result I'm awaited, I have more practice and experience.

    Wish you a beautiful day

    1. That's such a great approach, Eos. I get really annoyed if my creations don't look exactly as I think they're meant too. I need to let that go and enjoy the process. x

  13. I had "grace" as my word of the year a couple of years ago. I didn't find much that was either inspiring or supportive at the time so I'm glad to read about this book. It's on my reading list, thanks to you!
