Hello Monday

Hello Monday!  It's charcoal grey and pale pink week over at Summer of Colour.  Pictured above is my rather neglected gratitude diary.  I was really great at doing this - 5 things I'm grateful for daily - until the end of May and since then.....nothing.  It's amazing how quickly something that had become a habit stops being habit.  So I'm taking this as a prompt from the universe that it's time to pick it up again.

In fact, there are a few things that seem to have fallen by the way side lately.  So this Monday I'm saying hello to reacquainting myself with a few old habits:  daily readings from Simple Abundance, daily gratitude writing and picking up my journal again.  I miss writing, no matter how jumbled and unintelligible the words come out!

How about you?  Any old habits you need to get reacquainted with?  What are you saying hello to today?

Happy Monday. :)

  2. Happy Monday and happy July too.
Such a lovely image, Becs. :) Your daily gratitude writing sounds fab!
...old habits I need to get reacquainted with, hum... painting (both watercolor and pixeling) would be lovely as I was so relaxed when I did it daily, and walking my 10000 steps a day (I am getting so lazy with this rubbish weather we are having) too. :)

  7. Just beautiful, Becs. It is funny how easy it is to fall out of a habit, especially a good one! Grrr

I'm doing much the same as you today and trying to get back to the ever-important ritual of expressing gratitude.

  8. Love this color combination and the faded, antique look of the image via your post-processing. It's funny how good habits can so easily be lost and bad habits hang around.

  9. Love your image! Yes, I've come to realize that photography and blogging cannot take the place of journaling. It's a wonderful tool of carthasis...that ALWAYS brings me to a place of gratitude in the end! But oh, the discipline it takes...

    1. It really does take discipline....so worth it but I sadly can't really say discipline is one of my strengths!

  10. Wonderful photo. I have neglected a few habits along June due to my hectic schedule, but this week I am planning to say hello to a few of them.
I used to read a daily page from Simple Abundance a few years ago... oh, I have loved that book so much and for so a long time!

  12. Pretty journal. It is very hard to stick to anything on a daily basis, so I try not to berate myself. I hope you are successful in getting back to your routine!

  14. What a beautiful goal, inspired by the gray and pink colors this week. I am touched by your post. It is rather strange that a habit can so quickly become a non habit, isn't it?! To be human, I suppose. It's truly wonderful how you make it a new goal to begin again with your gratitude journaling. And your charcoal gray and pale pink journal is really beautiful. I love it. Nice to meet you! ~ kath

  15. So Lovely! I love the vintage look! It's often hard to keep good habits going! Enjoy your new start! I'm thinking I might like to get a copy of Simple Abundance. I've known about it for a long time, just haven't picked me up a copy.

  16. I like your photo! Gratitude is great I can never get it together to write about it every day. I have read that book as well but every now and then. I think over at the Brave Girl Blog they are doing a journal question every day. It's a great practice to be grateful for all we have. Have a lovely day!

    1. Hi Chandra, My daily gratitude writing is literally a list of 5 things - not many words really. It's more about the being grateful than the writing but if I don't do the writing I kind of forget to do it at all! It's definitely not as arduous as is sounds though!
Thank you for the tip about about Brave Girl blog - sounds like just the kick-start I need, I'll go and check it out. Have a lovely day too. x

  21. How pretty your journal is, LOVE THIS!! I use to write in my gratitude journal too but quit and got busy with other crafty things. This makes me want to start back up again. Wishing both of us luck at starting over and keeping up with it. Thanks so much for this beautiful picture.

  24. A beautiful image, I need to be more consistent with my morning pages, I was doing really well until the last two weeks, and it has been a bit more scattered, and I am feeling it as well. :)

  25. What a treat after a long absence. Gray and pink is a long-time favorite of mine but seems not to be terribly popular fashion-wise these days. So it's nice to see such a nice combo on your blog, especially as soft and sweet as your image is.
