In and Around Balliol

And just like that, as though a switch had been flipped, autumn has arrived. A cosy weekend escaping from the rain gave me time to catch up on some photo editing.  So, here is my first batch of photos from Oxford.  These are all taken in and around Balliol College.

It's amazing to step off the hustle and bustle of the High street and enter these peaceful, beautifully kept courtyards.

Soft notes from the piano blew across the courtyards from the open windows.

Secret gateways led from one courtyard to the next.

And shady benches provided a place to sit and people watch.

It is always the spires I think of when I think about Oxford (all those sweeping panoramic shots at the start of Morse and Lewis I should think!), so a few of those were a must - especially against that amazing blue sky.

A truly lovely place to wander round.

  5. One of the things I'm realizing through other people's blogs is that life isn't long enough to visit all the beautiful places that are shared. Your photos are beautiful--the summertime green of the grass and the blue of the sky are the perfect setting for these incredible buildings.
