Dear Friday

Dear Home,

One of my favourite quotes is this, by Laurie Colwin: The thing about homebodies is that they can usually be found at home.  And that describes me pretty well.  But I have to admit, home, with all the breaks and leaks and so on I had started to fall a little out of love with you.

This week, though we've had a lovely, peaceful first week of half term.  I have moved past the initial 'that's it, we have to move' phase to the resigned quiet of getting it sorted out.  And as the nights draw in and the kitchen and living space are warm and cosy I can almost forget the work that still needs to be done.

So here I am, a homebody back to loving you, home.

Thanks for bearing with me.

Love, Me

  1. I can't believe it's half term already . It is certainly time to draw the curtains and snuggle I have a love hate feeling this time of the year.

  2. Oh, "homebody" definitely describes me as well. Love the brown/coral toning of this image - there is a real warmth captured in this image.

  3. We have been going through our own breaks with our house lately. Hopefully we are done with those for a little while again.

  4. What a lovely, contemplative image this is.

rothy was right--there really is no place like home. We've been away this week and are now homebound. We are definitely looking forward to familiar comforts.

  6. Home, as much as we love them, can sure bring on the problems. We've had our share of breaks this summer, including the heat/air system. But, everything does finally settle down and return to normal. Hoping that happens very soon at your home! Enjoy your weekend!

  7. There's always something that needs to be done around the home. I think you're right though, just find contentment with what we have & begin to change or fix the things that can be fixed. I'm a bit of a home body too. I find it helpful just to have one space that I'm happy with :)

  8. A timely post as I look around at the breaks & leaks in my own home. I think I'll grab my throw, a mug of coffee and enjoy my lovely space by this window today. The breaks & leaks will still be here tomorrow.

  9. The joy of a homeowner...it's like a marriage...sometimes we get mad at each other and then we remember the memories and the good times...
