The first of the lights

The first of the the lights

Here they are.  The first of the lights brightening up a grey and dreary day.

And here are a couple of links you might like for the start of this season:

Susannah Conway's Unravelling workbook for 2014.  I am doing this for the third year and I really recommend it. (The emphasis is on intention rather than overly ambitious lists ;).

Alisa Burke is offering a free course called Holiday Play over December which is basically a mash up of her favourite lessons from her other online courses. The overwhelm will hit soon, but it looks like a fun thing to have a dabble in as time permits.

How about you?  What are you up to?

Linking up with Texture Tuesday.  Image processed using Kim Klassen textures add some noise 1 and pumpkin grunge.

  2. I love those lights and I'm eager now to get mine up -- I love twinkly white lights! And yes, overwhelm will happen but being able to dabble in and out of things is a good way to go!

  4. Lovely light bokeh! I just started last night on decorating. The lights are on the tree, but nothing else. I kind of like it simple, well for a day and then I'll overload it with ornaments! I'm trying to take a simple photo each day for my version of a December Daily. This year I'm focusing on simple! Looking forward to seeing more of your Christmas!

  6. There is something extra-special about the first of the lights, invoking the holiday spirit. By the end of the season, I am ready for them to be gone - but now, how very special they are. Love your bokeh lights.

  9. Hi Becs! After spending what seems like months thinking about moving, preparing to move, actually moving, and unpacking from moving, I'm wanting to start LIVING again. I'm catching up with blogging friends and plan to start posting regularly on my own blog again. I don't usually decorate this early, but I hung wreaths today and put garland on the mantel. I can't wait to get some lights up.

  10. As we near the end of 2013, I'm feeling like the mistress of unfinished projects. I won't bore you with the details except to say that the next new idea always seems more appealing than doing the hard work of finishing up already started projects. My biggest problem, I think, is that I have expectations that far exceed the amount of time I can devote to them. But the new year is right around the corner, and I'm a firm believer in new beginnings...I'll be visiting Susannah's site.
