Roof tops and love songs....

Rooftops and love songs...

I am always struck by the roof tops in Paris. So distinctive, so beautiful and so completely timeless.

Friday's Letter

Dear Paris,

You are still so pretty.  It was lovely to be back again.  This time with the Moo in tow.  Fifteen years ago when we lived very near this street, we didn't imagine we'd be back with an inquisitive and energetic 8 year old in tow.

It's a pity that we rather blithely assumed that you would remain the same.  Indeed from this photo you appear unchanged.  An exact photo from my memory all those years ago.  But fifteen years is fifteen years and it seems my memory is not quite as exact as this photo would have me let me believe.  I must, therefore, concede, that the lack of guidebook was a mistake.  Hindsight is probably not a prerequisite in coming to that conclusion.

Dear Paris you are still so lovely and we adored every minute we were with you.  We are calling this our recce trip and will be back later in the year to do it properly.

With a guidebook.

A bientot.

Love, Me

Nothing but blue skies

summer sky

I sometimes wonder if the endless blue skies I remember from childhood were only there because I lived absolutely and wholeheartedly in the present.  Maybe the endlessness of them was created by my total acceptance of that moment.  I didn't worry that storm clouds might be along soon and the rain of yesterday was completely forgotten.

Once again a childhood recollection has become a lesson for today.

Ten on Ten

Kitchen - first thing

A few games after breakfast

New buttons for my cardi

Sunshine and camelia - the flowers are magnificent this year!

Snacks and Twitter.  No idea what I'm doing....and I really need to wipe my table....

Taking her bike out - learning to ride without stabilisers

Changing transport modes for a trip to the shops

Cress growing

Easter nests
Making Easter nests

Bananagram....regularly beaten by an 8 year old....

I finally remembered to do ten on ten!  It's only taken a couple of years....

I've loved capturing the details of our everyday, especially as it's the holidays and we spent the day together.  Let's see if I manage to join in again without waiting another 2 years.....

Oh, and I'm @catchingsundust on twitter.  As I say, no real idea what I'm doing....but do come and say hi and leave me your twitter name in the comments so I can follow you. :)

How was  your day?

It was a dream

Dreaming is awesome.  I am a big believer in dreaming and in dreaming big.

But at some point you need to take action if the dream is to become a reality.  That nearly always means taking a risk, putting yourself out there and exposing yourself to the possibility of failure.

It's scary stuff.

But take a minute and imagine a world where you made something that was a dream into a reality.

Worth the risk, no?

For the love of tea.

You're like a cosy blanket
or a big fat squishy hug.
You make me pause and look around,
my lovely cup of tea.

Happy Tuesday. :)

Beauty is.....

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am

The most beautiful photo I have ever seen was a close up of the face of an elderly lady.  A face that was wrinkled and worn and a face that radiated the contentment of a life being well lived.

Her face reflected the beauty of her story.

I pray that my story will be as beautiful.

The stillness and the silence
And the promise of the day.

A Hand to Hold

A hand to hold.
And the start of a journey.

Coming up Green

Coming up green

A most delicious month of young things growing, of brilliant greenery and dazzling flowers.
Enid Blyton's Book of the Year by Enid Blyton

When I was young, my favourite book was Enid Blyton's Book of the Year.  It's written a little bit like a magazine with stories, mottoes, poems, puzzles, plays and songs.  Many an evening was spent poring over the pages by the light of the landing light, my heart jumping for joy if I stumbled across a morsel I hadn't read before or that had (shockingly!) been forgotten.

Perhaps even then - or especially then - I intuitively understood the importance of the rhythm of the seasons and maybe that's why the spring always leads me back to it's familiar pages.

Starting Gently

A whisper of the heart is where it beings.
A call to arms, an act of love
The courage to let it be so.

Spread your Wings

It began by a desire to stay safe.  Even when that meant ignoring hopes, dreams, desires.  Even when that meant standing up for justice and - especially - when it meant being heard.  All were buried and bundled up together in a tight little cocoon, seemingly safe.  A place of unchanging solitude and escape from an overwhelming world.

Little by little the feeling grew.  Whispers that this was not enough.  Those whispers grew.  And then grew some more.  Suddenly that cherished feeling of calm and safety metamorphosed into feelings of stifle and claustrophobia.  Imprisonment in an insular world of loneliness and sadness.

That little chink, the crack in the cocoon became the source.  The source of light and hope, pointing the way forward.  As her wings struggled to break free and slowly spread, those shackles of loneliness and isolation began to drop away.  Slowly, slowly they spread displaying their gorgeous, vibrant colours poised and ready for flight to truly begin.
